Today, my wife took the kids to a "hands on" museum for children. Afterwards, they stopped in a store that advertised 250 varieties of craft beer.

She brought home the following four:

BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red (Anchor Brewing)
Vanilla Gorilla (Red Brick)
Beer Camp Tropical IPA (Sierra Nevada)
Sculpin IPA (Ballast Point)

Pretty awesome.

You had sculpin before? It's a billion dollar IPA!

I think that I had Sculpin at BrewFest, and honestly wasn't too thrilled... but I *had* been to about twenty other tents (at least) by that point, so my taste could have been off... or I could have been too buzzed to remember which beer I tried.

I'm pretty darned stoked. It's sitting by my laptop right now, I plan to open it in ten minutes or so.

I think Sculpin is good, but I actually like their Big Eye IPA better. It just seems "jucier" to me; with none of that garbage megahaze from NEIPAs :P

Okay. Holy crap, this is pretty amazing. I get a pretty awesome "juicy" sensation from it.

Am... am I starting to enjoy grapefruit flavor, thanks to all of my hop exposure?

"Hey, want to go out sometime?"

Worst she says is no, which puts you where you are now.

I know, I know. Easy for me to say.

Seriously, this beer is damn good. I'd have never been able to drink it two years ago. Bitter for sure, major grapefruit hop flavor.

Vanilla Gorilla is a hugely underrated beer. I don't like much from Red Brick, but that one is the best they make, IMO.

Sculpin is hugely overrated. West Coast bitter water. Grapefruit sculpin is drinkable, but I'm not really into the whole fruit IPA thing.

Its been a while since i had sculpin, but i thought i remembered some maltyness to it? I could be wrong, though. Terrible memory, and its been at least half a year since ive had it.
