As you may or may not know, the original plan was to have all Divisional judging done on the weekend of October 25th. The three winning beers would be shipped to me, then judged here in Birmingham by the local homebrew club on November 1st.

Well, that didn't happen, due to the judging issues at our Malty Division site; judging there did not wrap until October 29th.

I was trying to get together with some judges on Thursday of this week. This coming weekend is out, as the local club that was going to help with judging is putting on an event.

So yesterday, I reached out to my LHBS, as I know the owner is a BJCP judge. He told me that he would love to help, but has been ordered off of alcohol for a week due to a stomach issue. However, there was to be a meeting at his store tonight (Wednesday), and several judges would be there. He put me in touch with one, and I had interest. The plan was to simply drop by prior to the meeting, get the judging done, all would be well.

Only, when I got home last night, I realized that the Malty winner had still not been delivered to my house. :/

So now, I'm in limbo. I can't set anything up without that beer in hand. If all else fails, my LHBS guy says he can be available on Wednesday... but that's a week from today.

I'm tossing out some feelers to see if I can find anyone willing to help before then, but it's proving to be a bit of a challenge.

Sorry for the delays!

I'd do it, but the plane ticket is likely out of your budget.

The malty beer should get there today, right?

It should indeed. I was really thinking it would be here yesterday.

Problem is, I can't just drive home, unbox it, then drive to the LHBS for judging tonight. That would not be fair to the malty beer, seeing as how the other two have been cold for a few days now.

> greater Birmingham area

Sounds like I qualify. What's greater than not being in Alabama?

There may still be time to update the engraving on your medal, Dan.

Or at least include glitter in the package when I ship it...

I'll judge. Don't even need to taste them. Definitely not biased.

On a more serious note, was the malty beer naturally carbed or force carbed amd bottled from a keg. If the latter, it seems like there's no benefit to extended chilling. If it's nautally carbed than it seems like there's no option other than to give it a few days in the fridge and then judge whenever someone comes available even if it is next Wednesday

All three beers were kegged. Still, I feel like anything should get at least a full day cold to be sure that everything has a chance to settle.

That's fair. Oh well, things happen. Hopefully another judge comes out of the woodwork that can help you out.

I hope so. I'd rather not have to wait an entire week.
