My first attempt at a session iPA, dry-hopped with Azacca hops. A full recap is on my blog.

Just read the post.  Nice job.  I agree, if I'm dong an IPA, I want the aroma to be a big punch.

I'm not sure yet if I'm buying into the session IPA kick - but then again, I usually only drink one, maybe two, beers in a given sitting, anyway.

I'm liking the session IPA kick if only because I too, like 1 or 2 beers in a sitting, but also don't like feeling buzzed even after those (not uncommon for 2 of the high-octane IPAs, at least for my tolerance). For me, it is refreshing to have a nice counterpoint to the MORE ABV MORE HOPS MORE MORE MORE culture that has permeated some aspects of craft/homebrewing.

I like the lower alcohol in them, but I hate the name......we should name it something different........any ideas?

The snarky side of me says to just call it "IPA". ;-)

So it's good but restrained? I'm hoping to do a Sach Trois IPA with Azacca and Jarrylo, would love to hear more about the qualities you get from it. Think it would go well with any other hop specifically? Maybe Mosaic?

Yep, "good but restrained" is a perfect description. To my nose, the hops in this batch tended towards a tropical fruit aroma, with perhaps a touch of citrus at times. For what it is worth, I took this to my homebrew club meeting last night, and one of the members with more extensive tasting experience (BJCP certified) initially ID'ed the hops in my batch as Mosaic. So, I suppose it might pair well indeed with Mosaic or a similar hops...unless you were looking to complement a piney hop or something similar.

I'm still very much in the learning phase of hopping (which is why I'm doing a lot of single dry hop brews), and my sense of smell got a little blown out during the days when I was spending more time around stinky things (I'll leave it at that), so take what I say with a grain of salt.
