Basically, I'm moving forward with writing that article for Homebrew Talk, one part exposure, one part pimping some other blogs cough, and one part wanting to raise the bar on what good and acceptable content is.

Thing is, the word minimum was recommended to me to be 600 words. I am steadily approaching 3000, and may need to split it into two articles.

Basically, I'd like to know two things from you all.

1. Would anyone be willing to take a look at some of the content I have and tell me how you think it is going and if there is anything that makes no sense? It is all about brewing big beers, so I know quite a bit about it but I'm trying to cover my bases and provide a ton of sources.

2. Should I just write a new not-as-good article to send in and keep this huge monster for my blog, or should I keep it for homebrewtalk and try to get them to raise the bar on what useful content is, plus spread good information to more people?

Or am I full of shit? Open to all three! You're all great.

I'd be happy to review your article and give you constructive criticism.  As you know, I'm also doing an article for HBT, as I feel the exposure can only be a positive thing.

I rather doubt that giving them great content is going to change their way, but I have a tough time doing something half-assed, so I'll probably shoot a decent article (for me) their way.

Awesome! I'll send you the work-in-progress copy. It is missing a section or two and hasn't really been edited, but there is plenty of content there, would love any criticism you have to offer!

So I'd be happy to help, you have my email if you want the input of a crass skeptic and cynical asshole.

That being said, don't blow your load on a HBT post. Do a 'lite' version for them, write the dissertation for yourself.

HBT article:
"Brewing a big beer is easy. You'll need, like, double the grain, extra oxygen and extra yeast will be helpful. For more info, see my blog".

Partly joking, I agree with rayfound - give them something good, but keep the really good stuff for your blog. With a link to it in your article.

All awesome ideas! I was thinking about just sending them the yeast portion, because it is crazy long.

Ray, sending you the incomplete draft. Always happy to have your opinion! I need someone to tell me to screw off once in a while.

Well, I finished the article and it is sitting around 2,100 words. So probably still way too long but screw it.

Everything got really condensed, and I'm going to be doing what Ray suggested, which was to release the full content on my blog in a sort of series. Then I will turn those blog posts into another primer, woo!

But yeah, it is seriously so long.

Me too, but I have a feeling HBT doesn't. But that's their problem, not mine.

I'd be willing to play editor, if you need another. Just send me Word docs, though.

Awesome! I'd love to have your opinion on some of this, I need more people to tell me if I'm full of it.
