OK, so I volunteered to pour at the Summertime Brews Festival this weekend. I'll pour for 2 hours and taste for 2 hours. I'm assuming I'll get relegated to the second group of pours since I don't 'know' anybody. Soooo, I don't want to get completely hammered during the first 2 hours and end up pouring beer on paying guests feet/clothing/dogs/whatever..... Not being from Wisconsin, I have a reasonable alcohol tolerance and will drink lots of water between pours. I'll probably (gasp) spit/dump a lot as well.

So, your mission, should you accept, is to help me narrow my list to 10-20 beers to seek out to expand my limited experience with styles I am unfamiliar with.

My beer history: I was initially a wine geek for years and really didn't get involved in beer until about 10 years ago. By involved, I mean drinking casually. I started home brewing 2 years ago and have learned quite a bit in that time. I feel that I have pretty good experience with Pales/IPAs/Bitters. I have avoided brewing most lagers until recently and thus have little experience with them. I would like to spend my time tasting great examples of some of them. I will list a few of European Microbreweries represented so you guys can make recommendations. Also, there are several of the better distributed craft breweries listed. If any have 'Can't Miss' examples let me know.

Limited Brewery List:

Bayerisch Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan

Brasserie de Brunehaut

Abita

Ballast Point

Bell's

Dogfish Head

Founder's

Harpoon

Lagunitas

New Belgium

Oskar Blues

Smutty Nose

There are WAY too many to list all of them.

The only beer I know I'm going to get to is Devil's Backbone Vienna. From there I'll need help. Of course, I'll be representing in my handsome Brulosophy Tee.

Thanks folks.

I know I've mentioned this before, but if you haven't had Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin, get tat for sure.  Founders has some excellent beers.  I enjoy a lot of Bell's stuff.

I've had Lagunitas Little Sumpin.

I'm looking more for a great Pilsener to turn my head. Maybe a Belgian Dubbel or a Dopplebock. I'm just looking for inspiration to brew something besides what I've done thus far. Vienna is on the short list. I figure it can't be worse than Dan's.......;-)
