Having a go at Pretty Things' decocted brown ale.

Appearance: Dark brown, when held to the light it's a brown/ruby color. Pours an off-white to light tan colored head. The head sticks around for a bit, then leaves a cap on the beer. Lots of lacing left behind.

Aroma: I'm getting a lot of roasted aroma, with hints of dark chocolate.

Flavor: Roasted malts dominate, there is a slight nuttiness to it, and again; another hint of dark chocolate. No hop flavor.

Mouthfeel: Thin bodied, with bitterness coming in at the end. Bitterness comes on a bit strong, but quickly fades leaving me wanting another drink.

Impression: I'm not sure how different this would be if wasn't decocted, but as it is it's a very tasty drink. I'm a fan of brown ales, and this one doesn't disappoint.

Edit: For some reason I can't add image or upload image. I put in the imgur link instead.

So what's your overall impression? I've been very impressed with the few Pretty Things offerings I have gotten to try.

I really liked it and would buy more of it without question. It's a good roasty, slightly nutty brown ale. It's probably not a great summer time drink, but it's great for any other time of the year.

I'm glad you've been able to get some of their stuff. They're one of about three local breweries here where I would buy their beers no questions asked. Their Bocky Bier is probably one of the best bocks that I've ever had, and one of their best brews. Jack D'or is their flagship beer, which they classify as an American Saison. It's a great saison with crisp citrusy american hops.

Oh, I can't get their beers, but can search for them when I visit my brother in Boston.
