Would people be up for setting up a commercial beer exchange from local microbreweries in your area?

As someone who hasn't ever traded commercial beer and is a stranger to that world, I am not saying this in opposition:

I am interested to know what advantage this exchange would have over /r/beertrade.

I guess I didn't know /r/beertrade existed.. after quick glance (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), it doesn't look like anybody reviewed the beers that were exchanged.. we have a Forum topic on this site that will allow us to discuss the new beers we have tried..

Yeah, it would be cool to keep it in a tighter community. We have a thread where we can share what we got and say what we think.

As far as setting it up, there may be some online tool for making pairings and giving addresses. Otherwise someone could handle that like Homebrew dad, or even I would volunteer.

Color me intrigued. I've been hearing good things about New Glarus, and I have two amazing breweries near me that don't ship out of MA; Night Shift and Trillium.

I'm going to add a feature on the site for yeast trades; I don't see why we couldn't do the same for beer trades.

Could homebrew trades be included in this as well? I know we have the judging feature, but it'd be nice to taste others as well (from anyone, not necessarily just the Charter guys). Afterall, tasting is believing : )

Heck, could even do a joint brew day (same recipe, or just changing one thing), then bottle swap at the same time, compare notes. I got the sense that trading happened pretty casually amongst a lot of the redditors, but it may be nice to have it facilitated via a forum is all.

That would be very awesome homebrewdad! In the mean time I would be happy to set up personal exchanges with anyone interested in some Wisconsin beer. Especially if you have breweries that don't ship out of your state like tracebusta.
