I'm not good with the technical side, but, I'll try to help until Olan steps in.
Where are the pictures? Are they on IMGUR or some other place?

Happy to help. Olan should be able to fix the photo upload issue bug sometime. At least you have a work around until then.

If you use the image button itself, you have to copy/paste the url of the image itself there. Don't forget the http portion.
If you want to use the HTML embed code given by flickr/imgur/etc, you can do that, but you have to click the "edit HTML" button of the editor bar here on the forum, and add the code to that window. Otherwise, the editor will strip your HTML tags out, and the link won't work.

Olan,
You sure you didn't tweak something? It showed me a broken picture when I copied the URL. It's working now, but, it wasn't then.
As evidenced by the first pic of the three above. It wasn't working before you changed something.

I edited one of the posts above (you can see that in the post). beerguyfromri had copy/pasted the <a href = "xxxx"><img src = "yyyyy"></a> code here to create his image, but it was placed into the plain editor. I took that and moved it to the HTML window of the editor, and it worked.
What happens is that the editor silently takes the < and > symbols and converts them to < and >, respectively. The output to the human eye is still < and >, but since those characters themselves are actually gone, the HTML tags are broken.
I'm going to look and see if I can configure the editor to not do this.
